Training Description: Results obtained from a quality Learning Media Assessment (LMA) lay the groundwork for all subsequent teaching and learning when it comes to students with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities.  Tom Miller will review the importance of conducting LMAs, share best practice and strategies, and provide opportunities for participants to utilize forms from various assessments.   Training methods will include lecture with power point, videos, case scenarios, simulated testing, discussion, and other interactive activities.  This training is free of charge; lunch will be provided.  Participants will earn up to 6 hours of continuing education units (not ACVREP).

Presenter:  Tom Miller is a former teacher and administrator of students with blindness/visual impairment and with deaf-blindness at the Perkins School for the Blind.  He recently retired as Program Director of the Kevin O’Grady School of the Northshore Education Consortium in Beverly, Massachusetts, and is currently a private consultant in the fields of blindness and deaf-blindness.

Target Audience: Teachers of students with blindness/visual impairment including those with additional disabilities, and others who work on their teams.
