Mr. David Owens creates individual handshakes with each of his students and uses those to welcome them in each day. What a fun way to start class and a great way to build relationships with his students!! #VSDBproud #GrowDoBecome

We've said it before and we'll say it again - we are ✨obsessed✨ with these beautiful fall colors on our campus. All the 😍😍 for these! And thank you to one of our teachers for taking these photos 🍁
Enjoy some more pictures from the Goalball invitational, taken by one of our VSDB families. Family support is crucial to students' successes both in school and in athletics, and we are fortunate to have so many supportive families who traveled to Tennessee to cheer on our teams!

On the way back to Virginia, our Goalball teams took on a visit to Buc-ee's!
Our soccer team completed the tournament with their last game in constant rain and played a great game through it but were beat out 3-1 by Delaware. We are so #VSDBpoud of this team's hard work this season. They are bringing home the ESDAA Division 2 Sportsmanship Award. Jaxton was selected as an All-Star alongside only 9 other athletes.
Way to go, VSDB!

Soccer tournament bracket - we will update this through the weekend. Let's go VSDB!!
It's a busy and exciting weekend for VSDB sports! Our Goalball team left before the sun came up this morning to head to Tennessee School for the Blind for a weekend Goalball tournament. #VSDBproud #GrowDoBecome
We are proud of our Deaf soccer team who completed their first season after many years of not having a soccer team at VSDB, ending with a record of 5 and 5. The athletes have learned and grown a lot! We are excited for them as they go to the ESDAA soccer tournament this weekend!
Our library is full of so many things to expand your thinking....including making a marble run to work on critical thinking! We love library time!
During a social emotional skill building session with Ms. Alysha, our High School students in the Deaf Department took to the kitchen to make pizza bagels. They look delicious! #VSDBproud #GrowDoBecome
Every year, on October 15th, we celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of the blind community while also raising awareness for those who use white canes to navigate our world.
Today, VSDB hosted Cane Quest as our way to celebrate #WhiteCaneSafetyDay2023! Our staff, students, and students from other Virginia public schools had a great time and were clearly up to the challenge. They did an outstanding job! Thank you to all our sponsors: Allied Instructional Services, VSDB Foundation, EnhanceAbility, and Ability2Access. Photos to come but until then, check out the segment on WVIR NBC29 from their attendance at Cane Quest today. Thank you to the MANY people who made today a success.
